Guests are treated to stories of the outback and its people by owner Lyle Connolly around the camp fire, dinner table or at the Smoke House. A well known raconteur, Lyle shares the history of the property including the families personal experiences & farming in the region.
Station activities are seasonal. Learn how to crack a stock whip - check the bore pumps - view mustering and branding of cattle - loading and transporting them to market in Roma and watching the sale - watch working dogs in action •- observe blade ploughing, dozer work - when occurring
Enjoy some fun on the lovely dam and cool off if you are visiting during summer.
Canoes are available for guest use or they can bring their own canoe/kayak to paddle the large dam to experience the tranquility where water meets the sky and observe the birdlife.
Walking or Cycling. Bonus Downs partners with RSL Roma Bushwalkers to promote the13klm bush walking track. This track also takes in the Ooline Park as well as other parts of the property. Cycling is also undertaken on these trails with pushbikes available for client use at Bonus Downs.
Bird watchers must put Bonus Downs on their 'must visit' list. With an unofficial total of over 100 different species of birds being viewed in just 2 days birdwatchers are guaranteed good sightings. A brochure with a list of species recorded on the property and where to find them is available for guests.
Bonus Downs offers the perfect location for photographers to immerse themselves in the outback and all its raw and delicate beauty. Photographers can take the treks on the Bonus Downs Property or to Ooline Forest. Photography clubs are welcome to include the property to host workshops or club visits.
Guests can use Homestead swimming pool in the warmer months. A perfect place for guests to cool off under shade and overlook the property. The pool is surrounded by a deck and is under shade adjoining the Homestead's verandah. Arrangements with hosts are appreciated.
